Wood processing Industry
The Russian wood processing industry represents the largest industrial customer for UCP Chemicals products, and is the largest single sales market for phenolic resins in Russia.
The main applications of phenolic and urea resins in the woodworking industry are the production of plywood, fiberboards, pressboard materials, OSB (Oriented Strandboards) and wood veneer to manufacture furniture. In addition, the resins are used in the lamination and impregnation of these products.
The production and demand for wood veneer and plywood are increasing driven by the Russian construction industry and rising exports to satisfy international demand. For example, a 30% growth rate for the plywood segment is expected until the year 2011*.
UCP Chemicals is a market leader in Russia, with a market share of 26% in the phenolic resins segment*. Moreover, the woodworking industry is the largest customer for urea resins, for which UCP Chemicals has attained a market share of approximately 12% - 16%, according to the company's own estimates*.
As the market leader for phenolic resins and a major supplier of urea resins, UCP Chemicals supplies resins to a large number of prominent companies.
